Stoop! by TankaaKumawani Stoop! by TankaaKumawani
youtu.be/wZ79bVc-nyo?t=1m39s "Take You to the Sky High (Live)" - Toshiki Kadomatsu

----------

For CrystalCircle

The hunting stoop is good for more than just taking down prey or combat.  In conjunction with formation flight and acrobatics, it's an important part of courtship rituals.

I think the composition looks a bit odd, but since they aren't Discworldian lunar dragons or particularly exceptional examples of swamp dragons they simply can't perform a zoom climb.  That, and I'd never be able to live the jokes down.

Proper skeletal work will be done when I have the time.  Part of the problem I'm encountering these days is trying to get my drawings of dragons to look right in different poses (especially when rearing, although it looks like Ori might be physically incapable of doing so) or when they aren't drawn from a side view.

So, are they going to have a nest of hatchlings?

In another, more familiar universe:  "Isn't that a bit premature?"

For humans, yes. For animals (like birds), not really.

Thank you.  I really should draw nonanthropomorphic dragons more often, and try to figure out a good way for Ori to rear without faceplanting.

Ooooh nice visual concept, it's like an airshow with dragons.

Cool its like a sequel to the other pic? I definitly like the angle here too. It does feel like rush as they descend. I also like how they seem to be watching eachother as it makes this feel a bit more intimate.

Er, how about not.  That tends to turn dragons into chunky pate.

So, like some birds of prey do?

Yeah.  I really need to figure out how to do the whole tumbling end-over-end with talons locked thing, though, it's hard to keep track of the extra limbs.

Their feet don't look like they'd lock very well. Their toes aren't very long relative to their foot size, I guess.
